Chuck Hogard gave his heart to God and was saved on
Oct. 12, 1961 at the age of eight. The Christian influence in his life
was his grandfather, Noel Burton, a Baptist
minister in Tulsa, OK. Chuck started teaching a 3rd
grade boy’s Sunday school class at the age of fifteen and began driving a
church bus at the age of sixteen. At about the same time he started
singing in the adult choir and singing solos in his church. As you can
see, Chuck became very involved in many aspects of the ministry at a very early
age and was called by God into the music ministry when he was sixteen.
Upon graduation from High School in 1971, he went to Baptist Bible
College in Springfield, Mo.,
majoring in music. While attending college he had the opportunity to lead
music in a small church in Forsythe,
MO. and gained valuable
experience in working with choirs and leading all aspects of church music.
In Jan. 1975, he joined the US Navy. In Nov. 1976 he
married a wonderful Christian woman (Jeanine) and shortly thereafter they
started singing together for the Lord. While stationed in San Diego, he served as
music director in several churches in the area, leading the congregational
singing and starting/directing adult church choirs. In 1981, he left the
Navy and moved back to the Tulsa,
OK area where he continued to
work in churches as music director. During this time Chuck and Jeanine
sang for revivals and special services in churches throughout the Oklahoma/Missouri
area.
After Jeanine was diagnosed with breast cancer, Chuck
re-joined the Navy in order to get medical insurance to cover her surgery and
treatment. Five years after her mastectomy, the Navy transferred Chuck to
the Dallas
area. Shortly after, it was discovered
that Jeanine’s cancer had spread throughout her body. She passed away
about a month later from inoperable brain cancer. Shortly thereafter,
Chuck drifted away from his service to the Lord.
God, in His infinite wisdom, led Chuck to Donna, a
wonderful woman, who he married in Mar. 1992. After about 15 years, in
which Chuck did no singing or ministering, God got hold of him and said, “I
didn’t un-call you, and I’m not
finished with you yet”. Chuck re-dedicated his life and immediately started
looking for a church home in the Grand Prairie/Arlington, TX area. He now serves at Central Baptist Church,
Arlington where he helps in the music ministry; singing, running the sound
system, and arranging for Christian concerts. He recently has started
co-teaching the adult Sunday school class.
Chuck completed his first solo project “Singing Songs
for Him” in July 2009 and is currently working on a second. He is available to sing for your church or
function at no cost. This is a ministry for Chuck and he feels strongly
that God will supply his needs. If churches would like to give a love
offering, it is appreciated, but not required.
